Shin Ho Sun
Lee Haerim

Lee Haerim received a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology from Pusan National University, Busan, Korea in 2005 and an M.Sc. in Life Science from GIST [Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology], Gwangju, Korea in 2007. Her research interest was in vivo cancer imaging and drug delivery by using the bio-conjugation method. She is currently a Ph. D. candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences at KAIST [the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology] and works in the Molecular Genomics Laboratory. Her current research interest is in studying cell growth regulation and intracellular signaling systems. She is specifically looking into the amino acid signaling mechanism by using the mammalian cell culture system. iris82@kaist.ac.kr
Kim Inkoo

Kim Inkoo studied for his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at University College London between 2004 and 2007. As an undergraduate at UCL, he received the Ingold Prize and finished with a first-class degree in the Dean’s List. He joined the Department of Chemistry at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] in 2007 where he is currently undertaking a Masters of Science Degree under supervision of Professor Lee Yoon Sup. The principal focus of his research is the computational and theoretical study of the electronic and geometric structures of the molecules of heavy elements, in which the relativistic effects are considerable. inkoo.kim@kaist.ac.kr
Yang Hanseul

Yang Hanseul received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] in the Department of Biological Sciences in 2008. He was born in JeonJu in 1987. Now he is currently a Masters student in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST]. He is a member of the Endothelial Cell Research Group (ECRG) here he is primarily involved at looking at cancer and stem cell biology. He has worked on a modek of lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis in Orthotopic Urinary Bladder Cancer (OUBC) and participated in the first Pacific Symposium on Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis where he presented the result of his research in a poster session. His current research interest is on the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) and the differentiation of embryonic stem cells into hematopoietic cells and endothelial cells.

Ai Melani

Ai Melani received a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Indonesia with a full scholarship from the SALIM Group. In 2000, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science at the University of Indonesia presented her its 'best student' award for her contribution to the academy and society. After graduating she worked for several multinational companies before starting work with the Indonesia Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (BAPETEN) mainly in the area of the safety evaluation of nuclear reactors, non0reactor installations and nuclear materials. In February 2008, she was chosen by the Indonesian government to undertake Masters studies in Nuclear and Quantum Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology [KAIST] under the direction of Professor Soon Heung Chang in the Nuclear, Energy System Design and Safety Laboratory. Lee Sangrok

Lee SangRok received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information & Communication Engineering from Chungnam National University, Deajeon, Korea in 2008 and he is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from KAIST [the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology], Deajeon. He has been working on metal to metal crosstalk analysis on 3D-ICs using TSV over gigahertz. His current research interest is on inductor to clk tree coupling analysis & modeling in high-speed mixed-mode system, using quasi-coaxial structure and shielding films for noise isolation between mixed-mode chips in 3D-ICs. His research includes electromagnetic compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI).

Kim Hyungjun was born September 6, 1987, in Daegu, Korea. In 2003, he entered Daegu Science High School, and graduated from it after 2 years. He entered the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] in 2005 where he majored in chemistry with a special focus on quantum and computational chemistry. He graduated with a major in chemistry from KAIST in 2008. He is currently a Masters student at KAIST, majoring in quantum & computational chemistry. So Soonyng is a graduate student in the Department of Chemical and B. iomolecular Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST], Daejeon, Korea and belongs to the Polymer Engineering Laboratory. He received a a B.Sc. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea in 2007 where he won an honors prize and six scholarships. His undergraduate thesis research focused on the electrode of the dye-sensitized solar cell. He is currently studying polymer electrolyte membranes using sol-gel chemistry for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). syso@kaist.ac.kr
Ryu Jungki

Ryu Jungki was born in 1981 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at KAIST. He got his Bachelor’s Degree in 2006 from Yonsei University and his Master’s Degree in 2007 from KAIST, both in Materials Science and Engineering. During his Master’s course - due to its interdisciplinary nature - he studied the self-assembly of peptides into nanostructures both at the Advanced Biomaterials Laboratory [ABL] within KAIST and the BioNanotechnology Research Center within the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology [KRIBB]. He is now pursuing a Ph.D. Degree under supervision of Prof. Chan Beum Park within the ABL. His research interests include fabrication, characterization, and application of nanomaterials formed by self-assembly of peptides. village@kaist.ac.kr
Qaiser Nadeem

Nadeem Qaiser, a mechanical engineering student at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science & Technology was born in the city of Punjab in Pakistan. He completed 3 years Associate Diploma in mechanical at the Swedish Pakistani Institute of Technology Gujrat, in 2000 and some industrial experience, joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan, in 2003. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors at the end of 2006. In 2007, he was selected by the Government of Pakistan in undertake Masters studies and entered KAIST as a Masters of Science student .His primary research interests are in sheet metal (forming process) by Lasers, called “Laser Forming”. Park Gihyun

Park Gihyun was born in Chungsong, Korea and grew up there. He entered Chungnam National University in Daejeon in 2002 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the same University in 2008. He is currently a graduate student in the Department of Biological Science at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology and interested in cell signaling pathways in fruit fly model systems. Lee Sahng Ha

Lee Sahng Ha was born in 1983. He is a materials scientist and received his M.Sc. at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology [KAIST] with a study on the application of platinum nanparticles for bioelectrocatalysis. His PhD thesis looks at materials for light driven biocatalysis and is taking place under the supervision of Dr. C. B. Park of the Advanced Biomaterials Laboratory, KAIST. His current interest is in development of an artificial phothosynthetic process which mimicks the natural photosynthetic process for efficient use of solar energies. kircheis@kaist.ac.kr

Kim Wonho

Kim Wonho was born in Ansan, South Korea, in 1982, and he is currently a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology [KAIST] where also he received a Bachelor's Degree in the same Department. He is currently working in the Cell Growth Regulation Laboratory and his current research interest is in cell growth and cancer. It has not been understood well how nutrients regulate cell growth and metabolism and how organ size is controlled properly in development. He is using fruit flies which are powerful tools for genetics. wono@kaist.ac.kr
Kim Hyunsoo

Hyunsoo Kim graduated from Gyeonggi Science High School winning the Samsung Electronics Special Award and entered the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] with a full scholarship from KOSEF in 2003. She studied chemistry as her major at KAIST and participated in Internship Program at Samsung Semiconductor and won a scholarship from the Chemistry Department in 2006. She has also studied at Georgia Institute of Technology(GIT) engaging in the KAIST-GIT exchange student program with a full scholarship from KAIST during the fall semester. She was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from the Chemistry Department of KAIST summa cum laude in 2007 and is continuing to study chemistry as a graduate student. She is a member of the Young Leader’s Club and also the Korean Chemical Society (KCS). She won a full scholarship from KAIST and has joined in the Center of Functional Nanomaterials: a group of nation honor scientists. Hyun Woojin

Hyun Woojin was born on Jeju island in 1982. He gained a Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering from Hanyang University in Seoul in 2008 and while an undergraduate student received many scholarships from the school and graduated first on the list. He is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] in Daejeon, Korea and belongs to the Polymer Nanomaterials Laboratory that is famous for the research it has been conducting on electroluminescence under Professor Park O Ok. Heo Jin Young

Heo Jin Young received a Bachelor's Degree in chemistry from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology [KAIST] in 2005 after which she commenced a Masters Degree in the Department of Chemistry in the same institution. Following a leave of absence from school, when she worked as an assistant in Mongolia International University for one year, she started to work in the field of structural biology. At present, she is a member of the Center for Membrane Receptor Research, and in the 3rd year of Master-Ph.D joint program. Her current interest is in the receptors involved in the innate immune system, especially those that singal the invasion of pathogen on the cell membrane. Riaa@kaist.ac.kr.
Han Dongwook

Han Dongwook is now a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology [KAIST] and works in the Corrosion and Energy Storage Laboratory. He was born in 1983 in Jin-ju, Korea and received both his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at KAIST. His primary research field is the lithium secondary battery for hybrid and electric vehicles and his research objective is to develop an advanced cathode material with high energy/power and high safety. For this purpose, he currently searching for a promising cathode material group (LiMPO4, M = Fe, Co) with an olivine structure. handongwook@kaist.ac.kr

Ha Son Tung was born in BacGiang, Vietnam. He gained his Bachelor in Organic Chemistry from the College of Science, Vietnam National University (VNU), Hanoi. While an undergraduate student, he was admitted to the VNU's Honors Program for talented students and achieved many prizes for both his scientific research and social activities. After graduating in 2007, he won a full scholarship from KAIST and became a Master's candidate in the Chemical and Biomolecular Department there. He now belongs to the Polymer Nanomaterial Labs under the supervision of Prof. O Ok Park. He is also a member of the Korea Polymer Association. Choi Hong Kyoon

Hong Kyoon Choi was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1979. He received a Bachelors of Science Degree in chemical engineering from the Yonsei University, Seoul Korea in 2005 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology [KAIST], Daejeon, Korea under the supervision of Professor O Ok Park. He worked as a visiting scholar for one year at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA (with Prof. J.A. Rogers) in 2007.
